Our Prime Minister announced on March 16 that Canada will deny entry to people who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents. That means homestay bookings made on homadorma.com are inevitably affected. Students that were scheduled to arrive in Canada in March or April can no longer move in to homestays as planned. Other students planning to arrive at a later date now face uncertainties. As a result, many of them have cancelled or will cancel the homestay booking. We'd like to invite these students back to homadorma for another homestay booking when Canada lifts the border ban without violating the terms in the contract or termination policy. So here are the initiatives that we'd like to implement to address the COVID-19 impact. Student initiated termination before moving-inIf the student initiated termination before moving-in is made between March 16 and March 31, 2020, we will issue a promotional code to the student. Students will be able to offset the service fee paid to homadorma.com when they are ready to book the next homestay on homadorma in 2020. Hosts do not get additional hit because of this change. Any bookings on homadorma.com could be terminated by giving 30-day notice policy. Students will terminate the booking with or without the promotional code given that they are not able to enter Canada in the first place. We do not have the rights to issue any refund or store credit on security deposit more than what's stated in the termination policy, since it is supposed to be made to the hosts. However, students are more than welcome to reach out to hosts and explain to them the difficult situation they are in. Some host are very accommodating to issue a refund of the security deposit, or keep the rooms available to the students at a later date. Host initiated termination before moving-inOur termination policy is not changed. Hosts will be penalized if they cancel the homestay booking before the student moves in. Many students on homadorma.com are already in Canada. They may not have been in a foreign country in the last couple of months. The risk of these students contracting illness outside of the country is very low. If a host must cancel the booking before moving-in facing the COVID-19 challenges, it's better to contact the student and ask the student to initiate the termination. Termination after moving-inOur termination policy is not changed.
